About us
Mebit is a fast-growing company in the digital entertainment industry, operating across online gaming and livestreaming. We build in-house, we move quickly, and our legal team works alongside the business rather than at a distance from it. We're currently looking for a disputes lawyer to join our legal team and take ownership of claims and litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
About the role
We're looking for a lawyer to strengthen our legal team on the contentious side – claims management, commercial litigation and disputes, including cross-border and international matters, along with adjacent work: case management, pre-litigation advisory, investigations and risk management.
This is a role for a proactive self-starter who has run a number of claims concurrently – in private practice, in-house, or both – and who adapts quickly to the fast-paced, innovative environment of the digital entertainment industry.
What you'll do
- Disputes and litigation management – managing and coordinating claims, disputes, arbitration, litigation and mediations across multiple jurisdictions. Instructing and managing external counsel, controlling and monitoring legal spend, tracking case progress, and advising the business on litigation risk and strategy.
- Discovery and investigations – obtaining documents and information and presenting them clearly and concisely as part of litigation and pre-litigation work.
- Pre-litigation – identifying and assessing potential legal exposure early, advising on risk mitigation, and supporting the business in handling contentious matters before they escalate into formal proceedings. Advising on enforcement, injunctions and interim relief where appropriate.
- Strategic project and transaction support – conducting due diligence and analysing legal risk, plus broader disputes projects such as document management and streamlining how disputes and litigation are run.
What we're looking for
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, with admission to practice in Serbia or another relevant jurisdiction.
- 2–3 years of demonstrated experience managing commercial disputes across multiple forums – court litigation, arbitration (domestic and international) and mediation.
- The ability to carry a large caseload while meeting tight court deadlines. Experience running several matters at once, prioritising effectively and working at pace, with strong organisational skills and real autonomy.
- Excellent written and verbal English, and the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues.
- Proven negotiation skills – the ability to shape outcomes while keeping the relationship with the counterparty intact.
Nice to have
- Certifications or experience in dispute resolution, international arbitration or commercial litigation.
- Familiarity with cross-border enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards.
- In-house claims-handling experience – we view this particularly favourably.
- Familiarity with online gambling regulation and/or the livestreaming landscape, and knowledge of the technology industry and digital entertainment space – emerging trends, regulatory developments and industry best practice.
