About Via

Via is building a Serbian-language digital savings and investing platform designed to make long-term investing more accessible, understandable, and trusted.

Founded by an experienced Nordic team and backed by Inspira Grupa, Via is establishing its regulated investment company in Belgrade, subject to the required approvals.

We are now moving from design into company formation, regulatory authorisation, and operational build-out. Our ambition is to create a trusted, transparent, and accessible investment service with robust governance from day one.

The Role

We are looking for a senior, hands-on Legal Advisor to become Via’s first internal legal hire. You will own the legal workstream for establishing Via a.d., support the investment-company authorisation process, and help translate Serbian and EU-derived requirements into practical operating arrangements.

The role works closely with management, the Board, product, technology, finance, operations, and external advisers. It offers significant responsibility from the start, with a potential path toward a broader General Counsel mandate as the business grows.

What You Will Own

• Support the incorporation and corporate governance of Via a.d. and coordinate the internal legal workstream for authorisation as a Serbian investment company
• Prepare, review, and coordinate regulatory submissions, corporate acts, policies, contracts, fit-and-proper documentation, outsourcing arrangements, and operational-readiness evidence
• Advise management and delivery teams on Serbian capital-markets rules, customer agreements, order handling, conflicts of interest, client-asset protection, complaints, and recordkeeping
• Help design a practical compliance and AML/CFT framework, including customer due diligence, beneficial ownership, sanctions and PEP controls, monitoring governance, reporting, and escalation
• Draft and negotiate key agreements with banks, custodians, brokers, technology and platform providers, KYC/data vendors, and other strategic suppliers
• Support Board and shareholder matters, powers of attorney, corporate records, data protection, outsourcing, cybersecurity contracting, intellectual property, and confidentiality
• Provide practical legal support for employment matters, customer communications, and marketing, and manage external counsel where specialist input is needed

What You Bring

• Law degree and at least five years of relevant legal experience; seniority will be assessed based on the substance of your work, not title alone
• Strong working knowledge of Serbian company and commercial law, with hands-on experience in capital markets, investment services, banking, or another regulated financial business
• Experience with licensing or regulatory projects, internal acts, governance, commercial contracts, and compliance or AML/CFT matters
• Ability to translate legal requirements into clear decisions, documents, and controls that business and technology teams can implement
• Excellent Serbian and professional English, both written and spoken
• Sound judgment, discretion, and confidence to work independently in an early-stage environment with direct management and Board exposure

Strong Advantages

• Strong practical knowledge of financial and capital markets, with experience advising on investment services, securities trading, brokerage, custody, clearing and settlement, market conduct, or investor protection
• Direct experience working with Serbian financial-sector authorities and capital-market institutions, including the Securities Commission, Ministry of Finance, and other relevant regulatory or market-infrastructure bodies
• Serbian Bar Exam
• Serbian AML/CFT Authorised Person licence or a recognised international AML/CFT certification
• Previous experience as a formally appointed AML/CFT Authorised Person or Deputy Authorised Person at a regulated financial institution
• Experience with digital brokerage, fintech, platform outsourcing, data protection, or cross-border financial-services projects
